Based on real events, the film tells the story of William Kamkwamba, a 13-year-old boy living in a small village in Malawi who has a talent for fixing radios and making things out of electronic parts. When Malawi suffers a severe drought that causes crop failures and famine throughout the country. William seeks to save his village and devises a plan to build a windmill to power the town’s broken water pump. How he manages to build a full-sized working windmill is what the rest of this inspiring film is about.
